The Founder’s Story

Growing up in a single-parent household as the caregiver for both her mother and baby sister, Dawn learned from a very early age how to think independently, rise to a role of responsibility, and develop grit and resilience. Her early career experiences in the world of human resources built her expertise in business ownership, entrepreneurship, and everything HR! After hiring everyone from welders, to paralegals, to C-suite directors, Dawn has learned what it takes to recruit and headhunt for the very best talent across professions and industries. With years of experience in advising hundreds of companies on how to hire the top talent, Dawn has expertly negotiated millions of dollars of salaries. 

In 2020, after leaving behind the world of staffing, Dawn’s vision and mission to improve the workplace for both business owners and employees led to the birth of Sipley the Best, a company uniquely positioned as a fractional HR department and business partner. Not only does Sipley the Best help companies build a sustainable pipeline of talent, but advises businesses on best practices when interviewing, negotiating, hiring, and creating people-centered policies, training, and personality profiling - all with the end goal of hiring and keeping happy humans at work! 

Her childhood experiences of trauma and parentification drive her passion to speak about the impact of mental health and adverse experiences on the way we show up at work. She loves to speak in the community about HR best practices from a trauma-informed, holistic perspective and hosts guest speakers on her podcast, Hiring Happy Humans. 

With extensive experience in participating in tens of thousands of hiring decisions, Dawn possesses an intuitive understanding of the factors that can influence both the selection of candidates and the compensation they are offered. Dawn saw a need for professionals both young and seasoned to have affordable access to career advice. Through interview advice, career coaching, and organic connection to employment opportunities, Sipley the Best empowers job seekers to consider new employment opportunities and advance their careers. 

Dawn’s favorite parts of working in HR include learning about the unique career journeys of job seekers – you never know the crazy and amazing story behind a person’s resume until you talk to them! – as well as walking with businesses towards creating happier, more productive workplaces.
